Hi guys!

As the subject tells, my brother is suddenly moving to Paris!
He was accepted by the university, and will do a Master Degree for 2 years there.

The university sent the approval now, and he needs to get there on September 11th.
He is actually having a lot of difficulties trying to find some place to stay (rent a room, or a very small apartament).

Do you guys have any tips to help him?
Or do you know someone of trust that are renting a room?

Thanks in advance for anybody that helps!

hey Mimo!
I am not living in Paris, but I know the city realy well as I was spending many time there (cause many friends were living there).

Where will be his university? What's the name?
Does he check social help from France, or do you have special help with your country?

In Paris, every flat are quite expensive (compare to others cities in France), so it will be hard to find a good one for a decent price, trust me.
Does he want to stay in the suburb? In Paris?

At first, he could check for AirBnb or place such as couchsurfing maybe, but he could not be a great start.
Not easy

Hi Basile!

First of all, thanks for answer that fast!

His university is Paris VII (Paris Diderot), its located at Paris 12.
He told me that he prefers to stay in Paris, at least at first, to know how the things works. It's hard for us, who lives outside USA and Europe to get used to yours mechanisms.
Aparently, he got one AirB&B for few days, and will look for some rent when he gets there.

He tryied to get some help with Crous (French social help), but didn't got an answer yet.
Brazil does not offers any help for that kind of situation...

As you said, things are really expensive and not easy at first...

Here in Belgium universities also offer student rooms. And at cheaper prices than regular private student houses.
Its well organized. Just some paperwork.  Certainly for international students.
Have you tried that with his university? Checked the website?

Thanks GTi

He has already tried with the University, but still didn't got any answer.
I think that the solution will be some temporary rent....and them talk with the University and try a room there...

Ok, then first, Paris Diderot is a great university. Not the best, but a great one.

Good idea to start like this.It will be really hard to find a flat directly, but if he is lucky, he could get one. But as you can doubt, it will not be that easy, especialy inside Paris.

If he tries to get the CROUS help (I also have it, so I know) he could get some money + a flat. Did he check the help with the crous, that can give you a (small) flat?
If brazil does not help, I hope France will. And I'm rather sure they will, if your brother is interesting enough for the university.. ^^
